This is: Ricardo Hagens – Senior Webdeveloper

Our team consists of about 40 employees, so there's always something to tell. In the section 'This is' we interview a colleague about his or her work, but also about dreams, trends and what we have just wanted to know about it. This is Ricardo Hagens!

Hi, who are you and what are you doing at Buro N11?

My name is Ricardo Hagens, I am 40 years old and live in Houten. I joined Buro N11 as a Senior Webdeveloper since 2011.

What do you like about it?

I like working independently or on a team on a wide variety of assignments: from websites to dashboards and monitoring tools.

What are you most proud of?

Setting up Persclub Data Services and the social monitoring system Yimb.

How do you keep up to date with what's going on in your field?

This can be done through a targeted course or documentation from a particular framework, but also through various blogs or an online platform, such as Laracasts.

What's the last book you've read?

Very honest: I'm pictured with a book… but I don't read so much. When I read, it's often work-related. The book I just read is focus on/off.

About the photo: from where the coffee and the book?

The coffee because I drink that quite a lot. At least I'll never say no to it when I'm offered it! The book because it is mainly about being satisfied with the goals you (have) achieved or with what you do. Not a top notch, but it reads away nicely.

What three things are you happy about?

My two children Owen and Faye, learn new things (both private and work-related) and of course coffee. Preferably with pastries from a birthday colleague!

What are you listening to in the car?

In the absence of a CD player, USB connection or Bluetooth connection, I listen to random radio stations. I don't really have a preference, as long as music is played – and not The Wrong Hour. Otherwise, I'd run hip-hop. Something from NAS, Keith Murray, Redman, Das EFX, Funkdoobiest, and so on.

What's your biggest dream?

More trips and preferably work abroad once… Spain maybe?

What question would you ask which colleague?

Hey Jantine, are you really grumpy? Or home alone?
